Philosophy / Mission
The community believes that the successful education of our children is a collective responsibility. It is a partnership involving the child, the school and the home as well as the greater community.
We encourage our students to become lifelong learners, to accept responsibility, to show self-discipline and to strive to attain even higher levels, to blossom as creative individuals, and to become responsible and contributing members of society.
Parents are active members of our school community. Whether through the Governing Board or our vibrant Home and School Organization, parents are involved and committed to the success of Arundel’s academic programs and activities.
Arundel Elementary School offers a bilingual program from Kindergarten to Cycle Three. Kindergarten is taught 40% in French and 60% in English. Cycle I students are taught Education Physique, Arts Visuel et Musique en français. In Cycle II and Cycle III students are taught Arts Dramatiques instead of Musique. Ethics and Religious Cultures is also taught in French. Other subjects such as Science and GHC (Geography, History and Citizenship) are taught in English. We are also committed to teaching our students 21st century skills such as coding and programming. Students can also develop their problem solving skills and their creative thinking through our makerspace program.
Arundel Elementary has a library, an interactive whiteboard in all classrooms, two mobile computer carts (laptops), ipads, and a gym.
Events and activities
Our students participate in many activities. Each year, with the help of the Home and School association, we hold a welcome back corn boil and a barbecue at the end of the year. Students have been involved in Winter Program (Ski-Skate-Snowshoe), Track and Field, and Reading Month just to name a few. A Christmas food drive, a Remembrance Day assembly, Tubing and Ski Trips, and many extra-curricular activities are organized annually.
